Black Soil White Bread nominated for Best Horror Novel 2025

Good news, everybody!

Black Soil White Bread has been shortlisted for an Australasian Shadow Award for Best Horror Novel! The Shadow Awards are organised by the Australasian Horror Writers Association.

I’m super stoked and humbled about the nomination. And while it’s such a cliche, it’s just an honour to be nominated.

This is my second Shadow Award nomination, I was lucky enough to be nominated in 2019 for my YA supernatural mystery novel The Flower and The Serpent.

Freebie! Black Soil White Bread for free until 19-Aug

Dear Reader

Black Soil White Bread is free from Amazon until 19-August 2025.

When Nancy reopens her great-aunt Agnes’s award-winning bakery, she doesn’t understand why the locals avoid her shop.

And why they call it ‘the witch house’?

After discovering an old recipe book in the shed, Nancy’s muffins sell out. But when weird things happen and old rumours resurface, who can Nancy trust? And who is telling the truth?

Folklore-inspired Black Soil White Bread is a supernatural mystery about community, loyalty, and the occult.
